CRZFawkz is a Canadian rapper, singer, media personality and producer who is signed to the record label Flex Entertainment. They were initially signed in June 2019, dropping his debut single "Louis Versace Gucci" and the following month, the album Summer Fawkz.

They are mostly known for their song "Hong Kong 97", which due to it sharing a title with the game of the same name, has reached over 26,000 plays. He is one of the most consistent artists in Flex, always releasing at least four projects ever year since 2018 usually with the same reception. They became an administrator for the label on October 18th, 2021. They are infamous for leaving and joining Flex Entertainment seven times, the second most out of any person in Flex's history. (Genes1s has left a couple times more) They briefly retired from music in November 2022 before coming out of retirement in February 2023 to pursue experimental music, followed by finally switching back to trap. He is considered to be on the Flex Icons List.

Career[edit | edit source]

Pre-Flex, Fawkz-OP, & My Demons Told Me To Eat More Chicken (2016-2018)[edit | edit source]

The CRZFawkz alias was first used when CRZFawkz started posting rap songs to their YouTube channel in Summer 2015. His first rap song that they uploaded was "60 FPS", a track about having a very fast gaming PC and a diss toward console gamers. CRZFawkz released some more songs like "Mom's Spaghetti Freestyle" and "Frickin 'Scrub" before releasing the TRASH TALKING EP in November 2015.

In April 2016, CRZFawkz released their first mixtape, Ancient Frickery. This included songs like "The Street" and "Oh My God" featuring Zezus. In June 2017, CRZFawkz released their second mixtape, Lit 4 Harambe, which was followed by Fawkz-OP in December 2017, and so on. His first two mixtapes are now taken down, however, since CRZ themselves finds them embarrassing to their career. A deleted song called FAF off Ancient Frickery became a meme in their IRL friend group in early 2020 due to one of their friends downloading and leaking it after they sent a private YouTube video of the song to be played through a Discord music bot. In August 2018, they released their debut studio album, My Demons Told Me To Eat More Chicken. A music video was made and released for the title track in October 2019.

Joining Flex, Summer Fawkz, & Whole Lotta Blue (2019)[edit | edit source]

CRZ had originally joined Flex Entertainment in June 2019, releasing their second studio album Summer Fawkz, as well as the tapes Fawkz-OP III and Whole Lotta Blue in 2019. The latter tape includes their hit single Hong Kong 97, which peaked at #13 on the Flex Entertainment Hot 100. They also did many features in this period, including a verse on JJ LOVES SOME GRU's The Money and Yung Spice's Disco Volante. CRZ would depart from Flex Entertainment for the first time in October of 2019 before returning in December of 2019.

Icy Records, CRZRecords, & the death of CRZRecords (2020)[edit | edit source]

In February 2020, CRZ joined Icy Records while not being in Flex due to him departing from the label on January 16. After a couple weeks of being in Icy Records, E.M.B.E.E asked CRZ if they wanted to be executive. They said yes, so they became exec of the label. Sometime in March 2020, E.M.B.E.E and CRZ went looking for new signees, and they discovered a few artists from a GTTC server, most notably Interbrain, who is now a Flex artist.

Due to controversy in May 2020, CRZ left Icy Records and signed to Flex on May 27. Shortly after, which would last a month until they left Flex again on June 30 and rejoined Icy Records. In early July 2020, MC Icy left Icy Records and stepped down from owner, giving ownership to CRZFawkz. So, CRZ renamed the label to CRZRecords. During this time, him and the other execs signed notable people like Lil' Diabetes & sammy the fish. There were even some album releases on CRZRecords, including Grawlix Pt. 2 by sammythefish.

On August 17, 2020, another controversy involving Flex admins going into a signing spree and signing a bunch of CRZRecords artists to Flex made CRZ feel like they had no choice but to leave the label and step down from executive, so they gave ownership to E.M.B.E.E and then the label was renamed to Billion Dollar Records. BDR would then go on to sign very notable artists like Lil Sperm, and also had legendary album releases like To Pimp A French Fry & SPERMPAC. From the time BDR began, CRZ stayed independent for around a month, until Lil Flexer signed him back to Flex on September 20th, 2020.

Returning to Flex, Trash Talking 2, & Various Singles (Late 2020)[edit | edit source]

After returning to Flex in September 2020, CRZFawkz didn't release any music for about a month, but they did contribute production and a verse on Yung Lambo's The Swamp. They released the single Stevie Bricks (Dreams) in October 2020. Brad Taste in Music tweeted the track, which boosted it's views and got it higher onto the Flex Hot 100. It was also featured in the Flex Entertainment article Our Favorite Flex Entertainment Songs of 2020. They released a remastered version of Damn Guap in early November.

CRZFawkz had not released any projects on Flex for most of 2020, until November 2020, where they released their 16th EP, Trash Talking 2, on November 22. Shortly before, they also featured on 2 songs on Voda Wake's Voda SZN. They dropped a few more singles in December 2020, Chad Taste in Music, Damn Guap 2.5 with 57W1ZARd, & Dogs in Tha Mansion.

Fawkz-OP V, UGANDAN BANDS 2, I Made This Mixtape In A Livestream & CRZ (2021)[edit | edit source]

CRZ began plans to work on and release their third studio album in 2021. At first it was titled Zero Fawkz Given and was expected to be released in the spring or summer of 2021. The album is said to feature CRZFawkz exploring a number of different genres, and dramatically changing their sound and approach to music. While a tracklist has not yet been revealed, a concept tracklist created by Lil Squeaky has been stated to greatly influence the actual tracklist of Zero Fawkz Given. However, the final project was instead titled CRZ, releasing on September 17th, and is vastly different from the then Zero Fawkz Given.

They released another mixtape called Fawkz-OP V on February 17th, 2021. It comes in two parts / sides, the first part being My Demons Told Me To Eat More Chicken 3, and the second part being Fawkz-OP V. Various singles followed, including Damn Guap Super Remastered, I Admit 2, a 4AM Remix with Lil Squeaky, and a Bands & Sticks On Me Remix.

They are notorious for releasing many other projects in 2021, however this just included a joke "album", one EP, and 2 deluxe editions, which were only released to increase their total entries on the Flex Entertainment Hot 100.

They also appeared twice on the Flex Gang, Vol. 3 compilation album, first on Air Jordans 3 by Tending Bike, and their own song, Magic, featuring Young Seagull. They actually contributed to around 6 submissions, however some of the rest appeared on 2 Flex Fridays, and the others are expected to appear on Flex Fridays: The Definitive Collection, which is set to release in April 2021. They would leave Flex again due to going on hiatus in April 23 before joining back on May 3, 2021.

Throughout 2021, they had done various features, including appearances on Moonquake by Wild Wes & WT On A Tractor Deluxe by WT. Later on in the year, they appeared on Intergalactic: The Space Age by Wild Wes and Voda. by Voda Wake aswell. Later features from him included several appearances on Lil Soz's Soz-OP, an appearance on Wild Wes's Diary of Da Wild One and an appearance and production credit on Tending Bike's Subzero 2.

They dropped another mixtape called UGANDAN BANDS 2 on June 5th, 2021 which was their memiest project to date with features from Yung Lambo, Young Seagull, Tending Bike, Lil Stuart Little & Wild Wes. A deluxe was planned but then scrapped.

On July 30th, they fully produced Lil' Diabetes's 4-track mixtape I Made This Mixtape In A Livestream also appearing vocally on one track. The mixtape was reviewed with mixed opinions with lots of people saying it was a normal Lil' Diabetes project with CRZFawkz randomly put in.

On September 17th, 2021, they dropped their third studio album, CRZ. The album contains guest appearances from TWIGEY, Lil Pony, Wild Wes, Lil' Diabetes, Lil Jdog, Reysosexy, Iansostoop, CrazyMowerMan & RobotDave. The album was overall met with mixed to rarely positive reception, although most of the full reviews described it as mediocre. It later got more negative reviews. ItsMeT, who was originally a fan of CRZ later called it "SO ASS" and "A pile of shit in an otherwise half decent discography" with MC Icy giving it a more positive but bigger, more broken down review. In the end, they were both disappointed at the end product. By April 2022 Fawkz changed the format of it to a mixtape, as they did not want CRZ to be what their third album was. However, later on, they owned up to it being their actual third album and he changed it back.

On October 18th they became a Flex administrator. They later dropped 2 mixtapes titled Yung Admin and Traphell 3 on their birthday, November 5th, 2021. It had features from rappers Tending Bike, Lil' Diabetes, Adam Raps, Interbrain, Scrub Kid & Young Plant & Rap Rock production band Creativiting Band (renamed to Redblue Fizz). It was considered a double mixtape, however, the 2 tapes were later put out as separate projects. A single was released prior to the mixtape: "CREATIVITING THIS" featuring Redblue Fizz with the band being ghost-produced by CRZFawkz and vocals from frontman Paul Markton.

Drenched In Sauce, THE GLIZ, CR&B & brief retirement from music (2022)[edit | edit source]

In January 2022, they dropped a leaks EP titled Drenched In Sauce, however it is an unofficial release. CRZ had not dropped an official song since the 2 mixtapes from November 2021, besides the single "I'm God" with Lil Squeaky & Litty Lean, released on March 4th, 2022, until later.

On March 25th, 2022, they dropped a new song called "Serious Chips". It was a very Pharrell-inspired banger-oriented song. They then announced on March 27th that a "Huge music announcement" was coming the next day. It turned out to be a new mixtape called THE GLIZ. It dropped on March 29th, 2022. It was met with decent reception. They dropped a few more singles from May to July which were all melodic trap / cloud trap, as opposed to their usual "meme" style songs. On July 2nd, 2022 they left Flex due to having personal issues with the direction and choices being made for the label, however they ended up returning the following Saturday, choosing to still be open to doing all styles of music as they always has wanted to do music for fun.

On July 19th, 2022 they released an R&B song called "Crystal" featuring Tending Bike, which was a teaser of what was to come for a next full project's sound. The single was met to varied acclaim, with some just thinking it was middle of the road. They then released another single, "Bitch I'm Up" with an accompanying music video on August 4th, 2022 which had lyrics that were written in 2018 for what became a moderate hit on Genius for a song that never before the single's actual recording existed. The song was met with greater acclaim than Crystal had initially and became a meme in Flex due to CRZ supposedly being "off the jeans" which implied that they had to have smoked jeans. The music video also heightened this, featuring CRZFawkz wearing jeans on his head and shoulders.

On August 7th, 2022 CRZ announced their third studio album, which would widely become perceived as their magnum opus: CR&B, set to release the same day. They revealed the cover art and tracklist aswell in the announcements chat and on Instagram. Many people seemed to be hyped for it due to the apparent R&B switch, and looked forward to it. After the premiere started at midnight on August 8 from track 1 and on it already was getting much more acclaim than most of their other recent music output. By the end, everyone enjoyed the album with very positive reception, mostly including 8 and 9/10s, with 10/10s from Lil' Diabetes and Wild Wes. The singles that previously got mixed reception, Crystal and Bitch I'm Up also seemed to had grown on people. Prestigious mid-poster Lil Squeaky let him escape MidWorld by a wide margin, giving the album a 9.5 and being blown away by the production and aesthetic. Wild Wes called the production "insane" and ItsMeT was 90% positive despite not enjoying the vocals. Many people appreciated the direct style and vibes that the album was going for aswell as the fact that many different types of R&B and pop were used including Pluggnb, Pop R&B, Blue-Eyed Soul / Yacht Rock, Disco Rap and even Dancehall. The album is also considered a cornerstone of the genre-switching movement spearheaded by Squeaky's It's Just Different album.

On August 26th, 2022, CRZ announced their retirement from music due to a "lack of inspiration," and had to leave Flex as a result. This decision was widely criticized, as people don't want to accept that they no longer has passion for music. While they have left Flex 7 times, they felt at this point the inspiration just wasn't coming back. In September 2022, they announced that a deluxe edition of CR&B with 4 bonus tracks was coming to streaming, which were extra songs recorded during the album era. "All For Me" was a song intended to be a reprise to Crystal in the main album, later replaced with the duet Romeo & Juliet, while the 3 other new tracks were recorded after for a deluxe. For the rest of 2022, he only made one shock return to music with their song "Vibeout", a song that had not been announced and was a complete surprise.

CAM-REN, Return to Flex Entertainment and Weeks Before Sauce Experiment (2023)[edit | edit source]

In January 2023, they ended up rejoining the Flex server, appearing in a Flex's Got Talent video by Beetlebat, also hosted by Lil Mosquito Disease and Lil Squeaky. When they listened to their song "Fawkz At Knight" featuring BIG TWIGEY. Beetlebat thought it was a good song but cited CRZ's bad track record of leaving Flex as a dealbreaking factor, stating that they have left the label too many times. They then said if they stay in the server for 4 more months, they can be signed. As a result, in June 2023, CRZ was signed back to Flex but not before dropping their commercially panned fourth album "CAM-REN". It was an experimental project that was widely despised with Flex artist Kenny Mgee saying that it was "too experimental for its own right". As soon as they rejoined, they released an EP named "Weeks Before Sauce Experiment" as a teaser for their upcoming project. It was met with decent reviews. Soon after, they also updated their Bandcamp page to put their newer albums on there. They also switched their CRZ mixtape back to an album.

Controversies[edit | edit source]

In late October 2019, CRZ banned Lil Squeaky from the Flex Entertainment fan discord server for referencing their song lyrics from a song off Jews In The Ghetto, Vol. 1. This caused minor controversy, and also is the reason why mod permissions were taken away from the Flex Artist role. They had apologized to Squeaky shortly after, however it lives on as a very niche fact about Flex's Discord history. A similar event had happened years later during the night of the CR&B premiere when Hood Guy kicked Lil Squeaky from the server.

CRZ leaving Flex in late June 2020 caused minor controversy. Because of this, they was almost taken off Lil Squeaky's God Mode album. However, the feature was so fire that Squeaky kept him on it. CRZ's verse was so well received that it is sometimes known that it "saved their career"; he was signed back to Flex not too long after, and became a staple feature artist on countless songs by other artists.

On July 6, Lambo revealed that CRZ had ranked xofilo's "Stardom 2" over the beloved trap album "ASTROWORLD." Squeaky, Hood Guy, and many others proceeded to dunk on CRZ for this take in the takes and tiers chat. This came days after CRZ had left Flex Entertainment on July 2 for the seventh time. It was seen as a funny argument at first but it ended up dragging on for ten minutes. CRZ felt some type of way about this and decided to leave the discord server as well as unfollowing everyone related to Flex. Many people joked that CRZ was trying to become a part of the "A.J. people", a hyperpop/melodic trap circle. After learning that the jokes had crossed the line, beetlebat put out a message in the takes & tiers chat telling everybody to respect people's opinions or they would be removed from the chat. Hood Guy and Lil Squeaky would apologize to CRZ in DMs; Squeaky later called the apology "bitch ass shit". On June 10, 2022, CRZ returned to the Flex Entertainment roster as a Discord server moderator once again like nothing happened. Beetle criticized this decision and felt like CRZ needs to think long and hard before trying to leave like this. Their apparent retirement from music in August and leaving Flex again as a result was widely criticized as impulsive and nonsensical, especially as they returned to music in January 2023. However, he usually considers the times they left Flex as needed breaks due to going through personal struggles or just being burnt out despite the amount of times being a lot.

Sometime in 2023, CRZFawkz deleted all of his Lil Squeaky scrobbles so that it wouldn't show up in the lastfm stats for an app called "Instafest" which generated a photo of a festival lineup with top artists. They regret doing it to this day as they were a top Squeaky listener and still one of his biggest fans.
