Controversies[edit | edit source]

Beef with Flex Fan Server[edit | edit source]

Wild Wes had a day-long beef with the Flex Fan Server for criticizing his music and making memes of him. After immense backlash though, the day after he apologized for his actions and respects the criticism that the server made about his music. A few days later, MC Icy said in the call chat "Well, I guess I'm a snitch," then went on to say that Wild Wes wanted to make a diss on flex. This infuriated everyone who was in the call at that time, as they had just given Wild Wes tips on how to improve his music. After a while, MC Icy was able to convince Wild Wes not to do it. He has also gotten frustrated at two different members for saying his beats were "Garageband loops"

Unreleased album covers[edit | edit source]

In March 2020, several Wild Wes album covers were leaked to the public. The two most well known leaks were of album covers for the albums "For Da Ages" and "Boom Bap No Crap" which both featured breakdancing Asian men for no apparent reason. The album covers were all received very poorly by Flex Entertainment members who were very confused as to why Wild Wes would use these images in his covers.

Return to Flex[edit | edit source]

In 2021, he released three studio albums: Moonquake, Intergalatic: The Space Age, and Nebula, along with one mixtape, Diary of da Wild One. Both Moonquake and Intergalactic received deluxe editions as well.

Critical Reception[edit | edit source]

Wild Wes' old music was poorly received by critics and fans alike on the album reviewing website AOTY. He was one of the most hated members of the label on reviewing sites like Album of the Year due to him adding non-existent albums to the site. These criticisms range from lack of variety, simplistic beats, terrible album covers, awful lyrics, etc. This led to Wesley being removed from the Flex Entertainment record label in 2020. TheDankestMeme called him his least favorite rapper.

His more recent music has gained some acclaim for finally letting go of the boom bap sound. His latest mixtape, Resurrection, has a score of 42 on AOTY, which is way better then any Wild Wes project. His debut album, Flood Warning, has a score of 51 on AOTY.

Wild Wes' 2nd studio album, Moonquake, surprisingly gaining a lot of hype, released and got a score of around 80 on AOTY for a couple days after it dropped, making it to number 2 on the list of best rap albums of 2021 with 5 minimum ratings. After a couple of months, the score to album gradually went down and now it sits at a score of 55 on AOTY.

Wes' 3rd studio album, Intergalactic: The Space Age, which was considered a step up from Moonquake sits at 64 on AOTY.

Wes' 4th album, the last album he released in 2021, Nebula, is his best album yet sitting at a score of 78 on AOTY.
